“Are we there yet?” is a question often heard by parents on a road trip. Even with the capabil-
ity of watching movies in cars, I’m sure it is still a viable question. The anticipation and excitement of
where the family was going is probably reason for the repeated question. “Are we there yet?” can be a
trick question for a breeder of seedstock. As our annual sale date gets closer, we could begin to think
we are just about there! We are, in relation to the marketing of our product. But the much bigger goal
of breeding productive cattle is a very elusive goal. No cattle breeder can and should ever think that
the trip is nearing the end. For that is when progress comes to a halt!
Welcome to our 39th Annual “Focus on Performance Sale!” We are extremely proud to offer a
fantastic set of bulls and females bred to be profitable for our customers. The bulls are sound, athletic
individuals with an abundance of muscle and rib. We are selling more open heifers than ever and they
are a great bunch of females. Don’t overlook the bred female portion of the sale. We have to get our
cow numbers down to match our grass potential. Take advantage of the solid producers we are offer-
ing. They look good, and are bred right.
Perhaps what is most rewarding about the sale offering is the young bulls we have bred.
Inserting the Bushs Unbelievable and Bushs Untouchable sires into our breeding program has, again,
proven to us that our own bulls can stand the competition from other sires based upon quality and
performance. Those are the two main objectives of our program. “Are we there yet?” No, but are we
ever getting close!
We have a list of jobs to do before the sale. First the bulls will be scanned and that information
should be available about February 15. All the current weights, adjusted yearling weights, and scrotal
measurements will also be assembled by then. Visit our website, bushangus.com, to find our sup-
plement sheet. Should you wish one mailed or e-mailed, just let us know. Our plans are to video the
heifers and bred females. That video will be linked to our website.
If you wish, take advantage of the DVAUCTION service as they will again be streaming our
sale live. After you register with them, you may bid as if you were sitting on the seats. Instructions are
found on page 5.
To our many colleagues, friends, and faithful customers, we thank you for your continued sup-
port. Please, join us on this journey of breed improvement, and together we’ll put to rest the age old
question, “Are we there yet?”
As it has been for the past 39 years, all the calves are halter broke and can be delivered to your
barn door. Join us for a complimentary ANGUS BEEF DINNER at 11:30 a.m.
