I don’t know where the quote originated, but it’s often spo-
ken, “There are only two people who gave their lives for us,
one was Jesus Christ and the other was the American soldier.”
True. Sobering. Thought provoking. Then there’s another,
“All gave some, and some gave all.”
There’s no way to repay those brave Americans who protect
our freedom and way of life. Our servicemen and service-
women sacrifice their time, their families and their lifestyles
to keep America free and strong. Although they can’t be
repaid, we can do everything in our power to show our grat-
itude and appreciation, and to support those who stand
strong for us.
It’s our joy to continue the tradition that was begun in
2011, and donate 100% of the proceeds from Lot 21(as our
form of 21 Gun Salute) in this sale. Our sincere apprecia-
tion can never be expressed for all that the military has done
for us.
Thanks to everyone who has pitched in to support the work
of the All American Beef Battalion. We encourage you to
read more about this program, its purpose and its possibili-
ties. We hope the work of the All-American Beef Battalion
will continue to provide the sustenance of American beef, as
well as a sense of support and appreciation to those who
have sacrificed so much to bravely defend our country.
The Purpose
* To organize and sponsor steak feeds, entertain-
ment, programs, meetings, and projects with Service
members and their families
* To encourage and assist Service members and their
families in any reasonable manner
* To foster among the people of the United States an
appreciation, respect, and honor for our Armed Forces
Military Service members whose sacrifices have and
will continue to make our freedoms possible.

For the past several years, we have been taking a
head circumference (HC) measurement on all
calves at birth. After hundreds of calves to com-
pare and analyze anecdotally, we are certain that
this shape measurement is as meaningful as the
birth and calving ease EPDs to predict future
calvability in cattle.
The measurement, taken at birth around the
poll and under the chin of the calf range from 40
cm to 52 cm. Average pelvic areas for two-year-
old heifers range from 170 to 174 inches. A 50
cm measurement is roughly measures the same
size as a 174 pelvic area, proving the point that a
head circumference above 48 is too large to
ensure calving ease in first-calf heifers.
The average head circumference in this year’s
Cross diamond offering is 46.3 cm. The average
birth weight is 80.3 pounds. We recommend a
HC of no more than 46.5 cm for use on
heifers. We strongly believe the HC measurement,
along with birth weight and calving ease direct
(CED) EPD will be beneficial to you in deter-
mining the calving ease of the bulls in the sale
offering, in addition to the calving ease maternal
(CEM) in predicting calvability of these bulls’
daughters.
We have printed the head circumference meas-
urement in the catalog for your reference. We
have also tried to “bird dog” the bulls we think
will work best on heifers, considering the meas-
urements of birth weight and head circumference
and the EPDs of CED (calving ease direct) and
BW (birth weight).
