ACommitment to

Greetings from the beautiful mountains of Southern
Utah. Welcome to our 40th annual bull sale. We look for-
ward to seeing and hearing from you. We have something
for everyone in this sale and the quality is as good as you
can find anyplace in America. These cattle have worked
for us, they have worked for hundreds of others and they
will work for you. They are backed by many generations of
highly productive cow families THAT HAVE STOOD THE
TEST OF TIME.
OUR BULLS ARE BRED WITH THE COMMERCIAL
CATTLEMEN IN MIND! We strive to produce bulls that are
moderate framed, deep bodied, thick, easy fleshing, heavily
muscled and maintain maternal strength. The bulls summer
in high altitudes, up to 10,200 feet elevation. They have
to trail 25 miles to get there, and 25 miles back in the fall,
so they have to be structurally correct. Our cows produce
the kind of seed stock that survives and females that are
raised and developed under the same conditions that our
commercial customers run under. We have sold cattle into
30 states and they have proven themselves to adapt to all
environments. As always, OUR OBFECTIVE IS THE PRO-
DUCTION OF CATLE THAT HAVE A LASTING ECONOMIC
SIGNIFICANCE AND MAKE A PROFIT FOR OUR CUS-
TOMERS.
It is the mother cow that is the most important part
of any operation. Our commitment is to continue to produce
efficient cows that are gentle, deep, thick square hipped,
easy fleshing and long lived. The power of our cattle is bred
in, not fed on. The daughters of these bulls you buy from
us will be the best replacement females you have owned.
We expect these cows to stay fat and maintain their body
weight while raising a 700 lb. lf without creep. The true
value of a beef cow is her ability to convert grass and forage
to protein. NO MACHINE CAN BEGIN TO COMPETE IN
EFFICIENCY OR THE COST OF OPERATION WITH A
GRAZING COW. Our cows are run on a grass and forage
based operation the year around. Easy fleshing is a function
of body type and not an EPD or any other number.
All my life I have bred performance and perfect
conformation in these cattle. Many people have told us that
all three of our breeds look alike. We analyze EPD’s but
the main selection tool that I have always used is individual
performance, birth weights, weaning weights and yearling
weights, plus eye appealing good looks. It really upsets me
that most of these breed associations and many breeders
don’t want to furnish this individual performance. They just
want to go entirely on EPD’s and carcass data as their only
selection tool . This leaves a plain made, hard doing cow
base that is hard to look at. WE HAVE BEEN AI’ing FOR
45 YEARS.
I will be 80 years old on March 15th. I married late in
life. I spent the first half of my life raising cattle, but the 2nd
half I have combined with raising a wonderful family. This
has enriched my life and made me by far happier than any-
thing else. I’ve got a lovely, gracious wife who is an example
of a pure Christian. She is a great mother and homemaker.
We have a great family who loves God, and we all love each
other and the ranch, cattle and good beautiful horses. Fami-
lies are the greatest blessing anyone can have and are the
basis of any successful society. Family traditions are part
of the weave of ranch life in the West and farm life in the
East, fostering the passage of knowledge, honesty, integrity
and hard work between the generations who take part in this
unique and wonderful way of life.
We are very grateful for the hard work of our family
and our dedicated hired men, Josue Garcia and Jose Guz-
man.
We are so blessed to live in American and have
FREEDOM. I hope and pray they’ll never take it away from
us. I am sure that you were all saddened, as we were at
the outcome of the Presidential elections. We pray that the
Republicans will be conservative and follow the Constitu-
tion, downsize government size and spending, the National
debt, the EPA and governmental regulations, and repeal
the endangered species and wetlands act, or at least modify
them.
We are very grateful for all of you business. Thank
for your confidence in our program. We appreciate your
friendship more than anything else. We look for ward to
seeing you on sale day. If you have any questions please
call us.
Sincerely yours for a better cattle business,
The GIB YARDLEY FAMILY,
