Hello Friends and Cattlemen,
Welcome to our 5th Annual Bull Sale. We want to thank all who purchased
bulls last year and in the past, we truly appreciate your support. We are excited
about the set of bulls we have to offer you this year. They are a very even and well
balanced set of bulls. We again have many outcross sired bulls to add new genet-
ics into your herd. This year these include red corner creek cash 2R, red geis knight
hawk, and red lazy mc smash 41N. We know as commercial cattlemen ourselves
it is very important to continue to add new genetics with the growing demands of
the beef industry. We put many miles on looking for new genetics without following
fades or trends. Our selection of herd sires is based on what both the traits of mother
cow and the sire will add to the calf and the overall structure of the animal. Not just
on numbers. An animal can look real good on paper but that doesn’t mean he will
perform in the pasture and feedlot. So we take all aspects into consideration. That
is why we feel you can buy our bulls with confidence, knowing that the animal itself
will go out and actually really work hard and do a great job for you. You will have
more than just a good looking piece of paper with numbers on it!
Our goal has not changed, whether it is our commercial cattle or our pure-
bred cattle, we truly put all our cattle to the test. Each animal must be efficient,
with low maintenance requirements, good breeders despite the weather and envi-
ronment that we live in and raise a good calf come fall without creep feed! Our
cattle are not given any special treatment here; we have no papered pets on our
Ranches. The bulls were developed in two different groups this year. Emits group
was fed the same as in the past a corn/oats grain mix and are pail fed. David’s
group was fed accuration. They are all fed free choice prairie hay. These bulls
are developed so that they will continue to grow and mature for you while breed-
ing cows and heifers. We raise them for you just the way we like to buy them or use
them ourselves. The bulls are moderate framed, easy fleshing, good muscled, with a
lot of length and depth. And some of the best temperaments you can find.
If you notice that the adjusted weights both weaning and yearling are lower
this year that is because one we had a really dry summer and we left the calves on
the cow a little longer not realizing that we were past 205 days of age. So when they
computed the numbers it subtracted weight from there weaning weight. The calves
weaned off normal and the genetics are outstanding. So don’t be afraid of some
of the lower numbers because I don’t think it is a true reflection of the calves; they
were a lot heavier than it says. The bulls can be seen at the Ranch any time prior to
Friday Mar. 8th, and then they will be at Hub City Livestock, Aberdeen S.D. for your
viewing until sale time Saturday Mar 9th at 1:00 p.m. CST. We look forward to seeing
you there, if you have any questions please give me a call, my cell # 605-228-8857.
Sincerely
