Dear Cattlemen,
Welcome to our 2nd Annual “Where Muscle Still Matters”
Production Sale.
You will notice as you browse through our catalog, we put
a lot of emphasis on cow families because we truly believe that
behind every good bull there is a greater cow. You will also
notice uniformity – thick, heavy muscled cattle throughout
the offering. We attribute that to a herd of cows, 30 years in
the making, that were all born and raised on our ranch and
carry our TREF prefix. We are proud our cattle still carry the
true identity of the Limousin breed with the added modern
traits of depth, easy fleshing ability, docility, fertility, and milk.
Whether it’s from the purebred side or the commercial end,
Limousin has a lot to offer. Yield grade, efficiency, muscle,
calving ease and of course the under recognized Limousin
cross cow are just a few of the characteristics that makes this
breed of cattle perfect for the times.
We’ve tried every avenue to present the cattle through
pictures, videos, performance data, ultrasound scans,
measurements, and visual appraisals. If you can’t make it to
the sale, some very competent sales staff will be available to
assist you or call myself and I will help any way I can. If the
bull doesn’t meet your standards when you see him, you will
be totally refunded.
Come early on sale day. We will have coffee and donuts
followed by lunch at 11:30.
To all of you who have supported our program in the past
and to those we plan to meet on Feb. 9, a special THANK
YOU!
Glenn
And remember, support your breed, buy registered bulls.
About the cattle ...
The bulls truly represent what the Limousin breed is all
about, MUSCLE! But don’t think we selected for one trait.
They are backed with performance and are the easy doing
kind that will leave you some great females as well. And, they
are all polled! We are proud of the fact that over 90% of our
male calves made it into the bull sale pen. A testimony to
cow power!
Several of these bulls go back to purebred unregistered
Limousin bulls we were using on commercial cows back in
the 1980’s. Therefore, some of the bulls will be registered
as percentage bulls though they are purebred Limousin in
blood. Be sure to ask if you have a question regarding this.
We will keep the yearling bulls until April 10 free of
charge so that we can have them semen tested and vaccinated
twice for foot rot prevention. If you would like to take your
yearling bull after the sale, we strongly recommend you have
him fertility tested before being turned out.
The open and bred heifers need to be picked or delivered
by Feb. 20, 2013. We will deliver the heifers up to 150 miles.
Please talk to us after the sale about arrangements. We will
offer $50 discount on each female that is picked up sale day.
The bred heifers are due to calve shortly after the sale so we
recommend you bring your trailer on sale day.
This year we had DV Auction video the bulls January
10, 2013. You can view a video of each bull on our website,
or at
All
the bulls will have ultrasound data, yearling weights, scrotal
measurements and frame scores by sale day. Watch our
website and limousinlive.com for this supplement data as it
comes in.
If you have an opportunity, we encourage you to stop in
anytime and see the bulls and females at home in their own
environment before the sale. Give us a call if we can be of
any help.
Again this year, we are including a calving ease
score based on a combination of pedigree, EPD’s,
and calving history from sire and dam.
E - Recommended for cows only
EE - Should work on cows or heifers
EEE - A good choice for breeding heifers
