Developmental Duplication (DD)
DD is an abnormality that has long been recognized in Angus cattle. It is simple recessive in its inheritance and very few affected animals have ever been seen in the industry. There
are a significant number of cattle that show no symptoms or negative affects even in the homozygous state. To assist you with your selection decisions, we have listed all tested
and potential carriers for DD.
DD has only been found in cattle of Angus origin. DDC bulls can be used on cows that do not have Angus in them with no problem. Bulls that are not listed are animals that do not
have carriers in their pedigree.
Genetic conditions are believed to be found in all animals. With enhanced DNA technology scientists are able to identify more and more of these conditions. With this information
we can make better breeding decisions. A genetic test can be requested of any bull you are interested in purchasing that is DDP.
