Wood Red Angus (MEW)
Mike, Kathryn, Katelyn and NickWood.
Wood Red Angus is located near Tahlequah, OK. They
have been raising Red Angus since 1985 and upgraded to
NSF Red Angus in 1987. They emphasize easy keeping,
phenotypically correct cattle with excellent EPDs. Mike
has been an invaluable help with the Herdbuilder bull
and female sale. He has been a strong supporter of our
program and always pitches in when we need an extra
hand. Mike is one of the most astute breeders in the
country and has one of the strongest minds for pedigrees
that we have ever had the opportunity to know. Wood
Red Angus is excited about their partnership with LSF
and look forward to the years to come. They have bought
the best, to offer you the best.
Raisland Red Angus (RSL)
Raisland Red Angus is owned and operated by Glen
and Karen Raisland in Saint Ignatius, Montana. We
have known the Raisland’s for many years from the
days when we were both working with Leachman Cat-
tle Company. The Raisland’s along with Karen’s family,
the Cawlfield’s are not newcomers to the Red Angus
breed and have a long and storied past that includes
being the breeders of Grand Canyon and Major
League. These folks have an exceptional reputation
for breeding some of the best females in Montana as
well as throughout the U.S. and numerous times over
the years have topped the Prestigous NILE Red Angus
Sale. We appreciate the Raisland’s participating in
Herdbuilder Sale and we think that everyone will be
impressed with their offering.
Rimrock Ranch (RRSO)
The Rimrock Ranch owned and operated by Bob and
Gayle Baker is located in beautiful western Oregon in Sis-
ters. Bob and Gayle have been long time friends and co-
operating partners. The Rimrock cattle are known to be
some of the most phenotypically flawless cattle that we
offer each year and have been some of the crowd fa-
vorites. The Baker’s use some of the most exclusive and
cutting edge sires in the industry and are partners on
some of the most exciting bulls to sell in the last few
years. The Rimrock Ranch is fast becoming known as one
of the outstanding Red Angus operations in theWest and
through their participation in our program becoming
well known in the Midwest as well.
Butcher Red Angus (BRA)
Butcher Red Angus is owned and operated by Ben and
Brianna Butcher in Holstein, Iowa. Ben joined our Red
Angus family in 2007 by purchasing his first Red Angus fe-
males from us during our annual Focus on Females Sale.
Ben interned with us during the Spring of 2008 and had
the opportunity to participate in all aspects of our opera-
tion and was instrumental in our calving operations as
well as the development of our bulls. The Butcher’s also
feed a number of cattle each year and have been compet-
itive buyers of high quality Red Angus feeder cattle in
Montana and the upper plains. They see first hand the
benefits of how genetics can play a huge role in the prof-
itability of each segment of the beef industry. Ben and
Brianna have a very bright future in the livestock industry
and we look forward to working with them for many
years.
RA Brown Ranch (RAB)
The RA Brown Ranch is a multi-faceted ranch owned and
operated by the Brown family in Throckmorton, Texas.
The seed stock division is managed by Donnell and Kelli
Brown. We have known the Brown’s for many years and
both Donnell and Ryan served together as trustees on the
American Junior Simmental Association Board in the
1980’s and Kelli and Ryan served on the RAAA Board of
Directors in the 2000’s. The RA Brown Ranch is not new
to the seedstock business and is one of the most historic
ranches in the U.S. being named a Cattle Business of the
Century award winner by NCBA. We share the same pas-
sion for the cattle business and the beef industry. The
synergies that will be created from our two families work-
ing together will provide our customers the necessary
tools to be competitive and profitable in the changing
agricultural landscape. We look forward to embarking on
this exciting new chapter for both of our families.
Tilleman Bootjack Red Angus (TBJ)
Tilleman Bootjack Red Angus is owned and operated by
Mike and Gloria Tilleman and their family in Havre, Mon-
tana along with genetic management by Paul Haugen.
The Tilleman’s have operated a large commercial Red
Angus operation for many years and two years ago de-
cided to add a seedstock component to their operation.
The experience running a large commercial operation
brings a tremendous amount of useful knowledge to our
performance group and helps in our quest to produce the
best commercial Red Angus bulls in the industry today.
Paul Haugen is an invaluable resource to the operation
with his family history and knowledge of the Red Angus
breed. The Tilleman’s utilize an extensive embryo pro-
gram as well as run a number of seedstock nucleus cows.
We share many of the same breeding philosophies as well
as a commitment to produce the highest quality genetic
inputs for the industry. We look forward to working with
Mike, Gloria and Paul in the future to offer some of the
most cutting edge genetics in the industry.
