Salacoa Valley Farms
2017 Annual Production Sale
This will be the largest registered Brangus Female Sale in the breed in 2017. You might say we saved the best
for last. We are selling 225 female lots. We have finally achieved our goal of 850 breeding age females and
this is the optimum numbers our resources here at Salacoa valley will comfortably run. Selling these numbers of
females allows us to keep our cow herd numbers constant in the coming years.
As you read the footnotes and study the performance on this offering three things stand out.
First, we talk about EPDs a lot. Not just high values, but about 6, 7, 8, 9, traits in the breed’s top 35, 25, or 20%.We do this because
we believe in balance. We are not willing to sacrifice any one particular trait to maximize growth, carcass or Milk. Instead, we breed
cows that excel in multiple traits, optimizing their usefulness in our management scheme and in our environment while bringing in a
marketable product every year.
Second, the cows you are buying have earned their way here at Salacoa Valley. They have contributed valuable bulls to past sales and/or daughters to
build this herd. And they have done it every year.
Third, in our balanced approach of selection we have chosen NOT to ignore the carcass traits. We believe that Brangus cattle should have muscle. We
also believe that there is no excuse, with the tools available, for Brangus cattle to fall short on IMF. After all, we are the provider of beef bulls to our
commercial customers, who in turn are the suppliers of product to Seminole Pride Beef. Muscle, quality grade and cows that can thrive in the real
world, in some of the harshest environments in the country, are all beef bull essentials here at Salacoa Valley. This set of cows you are buying is the
basis for our progress.

Throughout this catalog you will find some special females, cows that we have chosen to enter into our donor program. We often cannot flush all
the females we feel are deserving. Like everyone, we are often limited by the number of recipients we have available. It makes the donors we chose
perhaps even more elite. We feel their productivity; individual performance and numbers well justify our lofty opinion of these cows.
