T
he Angus Association has done a tremendous job at marketing their product and creating a demand for quality
beef. The base to create a cros breeding system around the Angus breed is second to none with a great deal of
advantages. We receive many sale catalogs from programs across the Nation as I am sure many of you do. As one
studies the literature the force towards single trait selection is an area for concern. Carcass data has increased in leaps
and bounds throughout the last five years, yet as cattlemen it is important that we realize that data is a tool. When
selection is made off paper alone and visual analysis is left out of the equation a dead end road is not far off. We spend
a great deal of time traveling around the Country each year, mainly to look at cattle. There are great programs across
the Country, each with different selection criteria’s and goals. I’ve witnessed both ends of the spectrum in the Angus
breed. There are cattle that look great on paper yet when you step out in the corral they lack natural thickness, depth
and bone that is needed to withstand the rigors of breeding cows in a range like environment. As seed stock producers
we strive to select individuals that will work in our customers programs. “We have really worked to try and keep the
natural thickness, square tops, depth, good bone & legs, and natural fleshing ability in our Angus herd with performance
needed to help you as cattlemen make money. Some of our Angus have outgained our Simmentals.

We have never had a more complete, powerful, structurally correct,
phenotypicaly perfect Angus calf on the ranch. He is wide based, big
topped, deep and soggy with muscular expression throughout. He has
perfect hair, good bone, the ideal leg set with big testicles and a smooth
shoulder. He moves out nice, tracks wide and fills in his track with a big
foot. His numbers are equally impressive; despite his moderate size he
had the fourth highest YW and WDA in our Angus pen. His dam out of
OCC Doctor is as pretty of an Angus cow as we own; super feminine and
broody with a nice tight udder and teeny little teats. She has produced six
calves with an impressive 729# WW average! We have been extremely
pleased with SAV Mustang, more than any SAV bull we have used. Both
heifers and bull calves come out extremely impressive. This bull is the
real deal. RETAINING 1/3 SEMEN INTEREST.

In 2011 we partnered with John Griswold in purchasing North Country
from Soo Line Cattle Company in Canada for $14,000. He is the result
mating of two of the greatest individuals they have ever owned. Soo Line
Annie K was Champion Female at World Angus Forum in 2009. She is a
phenotypicaly flawless female that later sold for $100,000. Kodiak sold
for $150,000, being the exclusive sire of the first Canadian pen of three
to win the Angus pen of three show at Denver. North Country brings big
body, bone, and muscle expression in a classy package. Many of his
offspring sell in this sale. Here is your opportunity to purchase a proven
herd sire that still has a lot of good years in him.
