2 Windmill Angus Ranch
Guarantee to bull buyers
Each two-year-old bull has been fertility tested.
The bull calves will be tested in March by Dr.
Judy Mallet-Baxter of Republican Valley Vet
Clinic in St. Francis, KS, and the measurements
are listed on a supplement sheet. Highly fertile,
sound, strong-footed bulls are necessary for
a uniform calf crop. Plenty of really good bulls
are probably the best investment a rancher can
make.
Young herdsires need adequate nutrition to
reach their potential. Proper care of a bull’s

Insurance
Jim Gies will offer mortality insurance through
Harding & Harding. He will be here on sale day,
but if customers need to reach him, his contact
number is 970-454-3836.
The insurance companies that we have worked
with the last few years have discontinued “loss
of use” coverage.
With the reality that sometimes young bulls
become injured during their first breeding
season, we have worked to come up with a fair
and reasonable way to share the risk with our
bull customers. With customers who wanted the
“loss of use” insurance, we shared one-half the
premium cost for coverage on the bulls to lower
your risk. We have decided to continue sharing
one-half the risk during this transitional period
with the breeding guarantee described to the
right.
Mortality insurance will still be available. On any
bulls that are left here to be wintered, we ask
that you do insure them. Jim Gies will be here on
sale day to help you with your insurance needs.
First Year Breeding Guarantee
All bulls selling for $2,500 or more will be
covered 50% by Windmill Angus Ranch if they
are injured during their first breeding season
and not able to return to service during the first
breeding season. Breeding season is defined as
the 90-day period following the first turnout of
the bulls.
50% of the value of the injured bull, minus one-
half of the salvage value, will be given as credit
in a future sale or toward a replacement bull
if one is available. Salvage value, if any will be
split equally between Windmill Angus Ranch and
the buyer. All injured bulls must be diagnosed
by the veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as
possible should injury occur and prior to the
injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims
must be made by September 1, 2012.
So, if any bull purchased for $2,500 sustains an
injury, with veterinarian examination, buyer will
be credited 50% of the purchase price, minus
one-half any salvage value.
physical and nutritional needs can add many
years of vigorous service.
A rule of thumb: yearling bulls should breed 10-
20 cows, two-year-old bulls should breed 20-
30 cows and three-year-old and older should
breed 25-35 cows.
Give them proper parasite control in early fall,
supplement with enough grain and protein to
place the young bulls in a weight gaining position
before winter. These management practices will
add to your satisfaction and profits.
