nutRition & Feed eFFiciency
We see our bulls as athletes and feed them accordingly. Working closely with our herd nutritionist, Jack Sieben with
J&R Feeds, we have developed a 48 Mcal total mixed ration consisting of corn silage, alfalfa/ grass hay, grain, and
supplements that the bulls have been feed since weaning during the middle of September. In March, after their 161 day
performance test was complete, this TMR was increased to 50 Mcal as they continue to grow. This low grain – high
roughage intake promotes lean muscle growth without leading the bulls to fall apart down the road. Moreover, we have
calculated 5.1 lbs/feed to 1 lb gain as the feed efficiency of the entire group of bulls on test.
Please note that the “gains” is this catalog are calculated on the entire 161 days that the bulls were on test. This set of
bull gained 3.6 lbs/day, on average, on the TMR listed above. Keep in mind also that these bulls all earned their num-
bers from the very same feed bunk: no feed pans and no extra help.

In the Spring 2013 AICA Sire Summary, there are 10 bulls listed as Trait Leaders for each of the 3 identified carcass
traits. The chart below shows how many of those Trait Leaders are strictly either WCR Bulls or sons of WCR Bulls.
These bloodlines that continue to dominate these carcass charts are deeply rooted in our herd: Duke 261, Impressive
D040, Prime Cut, Prime Time, and Tradition 066.

We have ultra-sounded our sale bulls and provided that information to our customers since 1988. This year our bulls
were tested on March 11th; this chart compares the test results on a 360 Day Adjusted Average of the bulls in this sale
to over 35,000 bulls in the AICA database.

Looking back at some of our sale catalogs from the 1980s, we noticed they referenced the “Wienk Guarantee.” That
same guarantee & philosophy is still in effect today: we stand behind our genetics 100% and guarantee your satisfac-
tion without timelines or restrictions. If you are not satisfied, we will make it right.
Added VAlue
Our customers are capitalizing on the pounds and premiums that Charolais cross calves bring to the table. Over the
years we have developed relationships with feeders and order buyers that have seen success with our genetics. They
like their dispositions and have come to rely on their consistent growth and carcass quality to make a profit. Nothing
makes us happier than to see our customers leverage the reputation of our program, but promoting that their calves
are sired by “Wienk Bulls.”
