Bull Management:
The 44 bulls in this sale were selected from
90 bulls weaned and weighed on September 27, 2012. These bulls
were never given any creep feed. Ultrasound scans were taken on
March 6th by Dr. Shawn Nicholson UGC Certified Technician,
processed by the CUP Lab and compiled by the Angus and Sim-
mental Breed Associations. Final weights and hip heights were
taken on February 26th. Scrotal circumference was taken on
March 14 by Dr. Jay Wolverton when the Breeding Soundness
Exams were performed. These bulls were fed a high forage ration
to prevent over-conditioning. The ration was 30% Sweet Bran,
20% wheat straw, 30% corn silage,15% distillers, and 5% supple-
ment until April 12, 2013, This ration was chosen to allow the
bulls to express their potential genetics for growth. The bulls were
fed as a single group once a day in a four-acre trap which con-
tained an open shed for wind protection.
