Bred Heifers
Here’s a rare opportunity to acquire some of the best from
within our herd and honestly, they are a struggle to part with.
We emphasize easy fleshing, thickness, fertility, disposition
and productivity in our females at Treftz Limousin. Last
fall, the weaning weights from our first calf heifers calves
averaged 682 lbs. on October 6, a testimony to genetics and
selection pressure. We expect these ten bred heifers selected
from some of our top cow families to continue on that path
when you take them home.
The bred heifers ran on corn stalks until December 1
and were supplemented with Purina-Lix 38% protein tubs
and Purina Avail 4 mineral tubs. Since then, they have been
running on a ten acre pasture and fed ground hay consisting
of 50% CRP and 50% alfalfa, 5 lbs. of cracked corn/oats,
and continued with the same protein and mineral tubs.
Heifers were vaccinated with PregGuard Gld FP10 prior
to breeding. They were ultrasounded August 26 by Cole
Briggs and given Scour Bos 4. Poured with Ivermectrin
December 1 and repeated prior to the sale. Heifers were
boostered with Scour Bos 9 January 1, 2013.
Ultrasound due dates are approximate and we can’t
guarantee heifers safe to AI sire at printing time of catalog.
Heifers were exposed to cleanup bulls for 30 days, one cycle
after AI date.
None of the bred heifers are homo polled tested.
