Welcome to our 20th Annual Production sale! Thank you for taking the time to evaluate our breeding program and our philosophy
of genetic improvement in Angus cattle. For 35 years we have devoted our heart and soul to designing a type of Angus seed-
stock that are very trait-balanced with the functional ability to excel in all sectors of the beef industry. We must stay focused on
genetics which will keep production agriculture in business, and yet meet the needs of tenderness and taste for our consumers.
I am extremely pleased with this year’s offering of bulls. These are the “cream of the crop” from nearly 250 bulls that have excelled
in all areas of production and efficiency! Half of the sale offering are recommended and can safely be used on heifers. The entire
group has been selected for a type and kind which will provide you with trouble free bulls and profitability for many years to come!
As you review our sale book, please take advantage of all the information and data provided to aid in your selections. My goal
is to supply you with the knowledge and recommendations to make your bull buying process as easy and convenient as pos-
sible. Our unique four trait scoring system for each bull is well defined and factors in many of the economically relevant traits.
This allows you to have my personal input as you search the offering for the bulls that will be most effective in your operation.
We are pleased to continue the “Targeting the Brand” system from the Certified Angus Beef staff which will make it easier for you
to identify the bulls that will sire calves best targeting the CAB brand. Please refer to page 13 in the sale catalog to read about
the “Targeting the Brand” logo. This ‘Brand’ identifies the bulls that meet or exceed the EPD recommendations for Marbling and
$Grid values from the CAB Best Practices Manual. We all want to produce pounds of beef; however, do we want to produce a
pound of lead or a pound of gold?
The selection of spring open heifers is outstanding as they are the result of mating the top proven sires of the breed to our founda-
tion females having stood the test of time for over 35 years! These heifers will make the moderate size, easy keeping, feminine
females everyone is searching for. However, they also have all the genetics to produce calves that excel in performance and
end product merit!
Please note the auction format (see page 13); a pre-recorded video clip of each animal will be shown instead of bringing the animal
into the sale ring. The cattle will be penned and ready for viewing by 9 a.m. on sale day, and as always, are available for viewing
any time prior to the sale at the ranch headquarters. The entire sale offering will have individual video clips that can be viewed
on our website after March 1. Also note the sight unseen purchase guarantee if you are unable to personally attend the sale.
The majority of our foundation females and a portion of the sale bulls have been genomically evaluated with the Pfizer HD 50K
test. This evaluation results in genomic-enhanced EPDs. We can now more accurately identify the genetic potential of young
Angus seedstock. Please contact me if you would like to visit about this process.
