Dear Cattlemen,
Welcome to our annual “Best in the Midwest Bull Sale” February 19, 2013 at South Dakota Livestock Sales,
Watertown, SD.
Reppe Ranch puts great emphasis on the bulls we choose to use in our breeding program. Sires selected have to
be moderate to bigger framed, stout, stretchy, easy-fleshing, good mannered, structurally sound, carcass well, and
most of all have a great maternal background.
We also like to sample bulls we have raised in our own program. We have had very good success doing this with
the three high-selling sire groups in our sale last year, being out of bulls we have raised. We will again be offering
sons of R5 Rambo 753, which was the talk of the bull sale last year where the top son went to ABS Global and seven
others were the top-selling bulls. We will also be offering sons of R5 Roundup 8296 which was the second high-sell-
ing sire group. This bull transmits calving ease, phenotype, performance, and a very strong maternal background.
This year we are offering a big selection of sons out of R5 Monument 087 which sold to ABS Global in our 2011
sale. This sire has truly surpassed all of our expectations. His progeny are one of the thickest sets of bulls we have
raised, they are very sound on their feet, deep ribbed, and have a very good look to them. All of this in a very easy-
fleshing package. These sire groups truly show what the R5 prefix cattle are capable of doing.
This year’s set of bulls is, without a doubt, the best set of bulls we have raised. There are many calving-ease bulls
in the offering. In the bull write-ups, you will see bulls marked “calving ease bulls.” We try to look at many aspects
of the bull to consider them calving ease. We look at birth weight, Birth EPDs, dam’s progeny birth ratios, and
the build of the bull. There is nothing worse than a hard calving bull on virgin heifers, so we do the best we can to
eliminate any calving problems. The cow bulls are very powerful all the way through. In the write-ups you will see
“big frame,” “moderate frame,” and “smaller framed.” This does not indicate the size of bone of the animal or the
overall mass of the animal. This just indicates how tall the animal is.
The Fall bulls’ 205-day weights are a little lighter than the yearling bulls’ weights. The quality of them is just
as good as the yearling bulls. They did it all on their mother’s milk with no creep feed and no green grass. These
strong-aged bulls will be able to cover a lot of cows.
With that, we would like to thank all our past customers and welcome new customers to our operation. Your
support and interest is greatly appreciated. If you’re wanting to know more about the bulls, feel free to call or come
look at the offering; you won’t be disappointed. Even if you’re not interested in buying a bull, still come on sale day,
view the different sire groups, have a complimentary lunch on us, and you just may find a sire to AI with which you
never had considered.
Sincerely,
Reppe Ranch
