Dear Fellow Cattlemen,
It is a pleasure to once again assist the O’Neill family in preparing for their 24th Annual
Registered Angus Bull Sale on St. Patrick’s Day. The future of the beef business relies on astute cattle
producers like the O’Neill’s to optimize all the economically important traits including fertility, growth,
conversion as well as maternal and carcass strength. It takes a true breeder with an eye focused on the
big picture to blend all of these attributes together and make real progress attainable.
This herd has placed added emphasis on the Angus mother, working with true foundation
females that will continue to produce regardless of the conditions that they face. Maternal correctness
and structural soundness are mandatory in order to be retained over the years in this herd. All of this
dedication led to the program achieving the rank of #2 Pathfinder herd in the country.
At O’Neill’s, the breeding program is designed to produce a volume of bulls that help commercial
customers achieve success as a low cost/ high profit producer. These bulls are professionally developed
to insure longevity and durability. Seedstock from this herd contribute fleshing ability, growth, fertility, balanced carcass figures and low birth
weights. This sale offering is well represented by some of the breed’s most proven and popular A.I. sires. The program backing up these cattle
have been built on the fundamentals, something verified by the amount of repeat customers. The goal here has always been to run foundation
seed stock under practical real world conditions.
Please take this opportunity to select from
generations of genetic progress and excellence that has been
achieved here at O’Neill Cattle Company. As always, if you
have any questions, please get in touch with someone from
the CAS office or the O’Neill’s. We look forward to seeing
you on sale day in Valentine.
Sincerely,
AL & JEANNE CONOVER

Cattlemen and women, welcome to our 24th annual production sale, and Happy St.
Patrick’s Day,
The dreaded year of 2012 has come and gone, The Mayan calendar was obviously
wrong when it predicted the end of the world, but I will not say that it has passed without
notation. The hottest and driest year recorded since the dirty 30s have left many of us short
on feed and worried about grass. We have come up with a plan to supply the bulls regardless
of Mother Nature’s fury. It goes as planned:
Drought guarantee! If you, our customers, purchase bulls from us, the
drought continues and you are forced to sell or reduce the cows, we will
reimburse you for any of the bulls you purchased from us at cost as long as they have not been used and
you return the bulls by May 15th.
It has never been such an important time to have the freshest and most powerful genetics aligned with our herds, where the
heifers will out sell the steers and make some real headway towards profitability not to mention giving us an edge in our own herds
to producing a better cow that will send us a better return for the 12 years of her productive life.
We have always emphasized on the cows in our herd and not that she be a good cow, but a great one. And we heavily use
the influence of the sires which we think will produce that very thing. With the amount of Pathfinders that have been produced here,
I would say we are right on track and a cow herd that is second to none. They are of moderate frame, easy keeping, functional and
productive. A culling procedure is in place - if they fail to produce they are culled.
The bulls these cows are producing will no doubt transfer down to the most important part of our operation which is
you,our customer.
As always, we guarantee all of our bulls for the first breeding season regardless of the problem. They will be at Valentine,
NE on Friday the 14th for viewing. We will be set up with DVAuction for internet bidding. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to call.
