b. Bulls with EPDs between +2.0 and +4.0 can be used on heifers, but close
supervision and management should be followed.
c. Bulls with EPDs over +4.0 can safely be used on cows, but are not recom-
mended for use on heifers.
# - This symbol used within a pedigree means that that particular animal is a
Pathfinder and meets a certain set of strict standards set forth by the Ameri-
can Angus Association.
The Pathfinder Angus program was started in 1978 in an effort to identify supe-
rior cows in the breed based on their records of performance from Angus Herd
Improvement Records (AHIR). In identifying these superior cows, emphasis was
placed on early puberty, breeding and early performance of the offspring.
In addition, bulls that have sired a minimum of five or more Pathfinder Cows are
listed as Pathfinder Sires in this report.
