Welcome to Medicine Lodge and the Gyp Hills, home to the Lonker Ranch and Red Rock Cattle! Thank you for your interest in the
heifers and bulls we are offering at our “Rock Your Herd” sale. We have chosen to once again sell the cattle in video format. All pens
of cattle being sold will be video displayed in the barn and on line at the time of auction.
All cattle are available for your viewing in their assigned pens on Sunday and Monday
prior to the sale.
About Us:
Don and Barbara continue in the cattle business as the Lonker Ranch. The commercial
bred heifer program they started a few years ago has become their main focus. However,
they still remain registered breeders by maintaining a small herd of registered cattle.
John, Andrea, Luke, Kirk and Jake continue to learn about the day to day cattle opera-
tion from the “pros”. We continue to grow the registered Hereford and Red Angus herd,
as well as the commercial bred heifer program.
The commercial program fits both Don and John’s occupations outside of
ranching. Don puts his veterinarian expertise to practice to care for the heifers
while John uses his ABS Global fieldman experience to guide the AI program.
Our plan is to raise a few good bulls and increasing the bred heifer program
and having a sale each fall.
We are pleased with this group of heifers and the way they have developed this
drought year. They have come from our customers and people in eastern
Kansas, Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska that we have purchased heifers
from in years past. They have been AI'd to the best bulls available and then pasture exposed to low
birth weight Red Angus bulls. We have had a poor grass year so the cattle have been supplement-
ed more than normal. They have been fed grain cubes the past 3 months. We hope you like what
we have to offer.
The bulls in the sale are ones that we have used on the heifers. They have not been pushed so they
are in moderate condition ready to go to work for you; certainly a set of bulls that would continue
to be used in heifer programs or cowherds anywhere.
Thank you to those that have supported our program in the past and we look forward to meeting new customers. We’re glad that you
are here to view what we have accomplished. We have been blessed in so many ways through the years that it would make too long a
list to mention. We continually thank God for that and praise Him for allowing us to be His steward while we live this life.
We hope you enjoy your day with us and the cattle meet your expectations.
Sincerely,
Don &Barbara Lonker and John &Andrea Fisher Families
