Substance is making a mark in the beef industry
with his superior siring ability and refreshing pedi-
gree. This is the third set of calves we have sold out of
him – and it’s the largest and best set yet.
We calved Substance’s first daughters last
spring, and they are going to make a lasting impact,
combining the antagonistic traits of fleshing ease and
excellent milking ability. We will have 40 more daugh-
ters in production the next two springs.
We have calved first-calf heifers to Substance
with excellent success the last three years. The calves
also ranked near the top each fall.
We mated Substance to many bloodlines and
have found him to be a potent sire
with consistent siring ability.
We own Substance with
Genex, Lindskov-Thiel Ranch, Ben-
field Farm and TJ Cattle.

Here is the genotype and phenotype standout of the 2013 offer-
ing. Secretary is out of a 2-year-old Dimension daughter that
goes back to a Final Answer granddam and then a Bushwacker
great-granddam. Secretary gets his great fleshing-ease look
from these outstanding cows. His extra rib volume and base
width make him the kind for producing profitable females.
Secretary covers all of the bases – from calving ease to perfor-
mance – with the
extra attributes of
top carcass quality
and the productive,
fertile Madame Pride
cow family. In 2012,
a maternal brother
to Secretary’s dam
sold to Scott and
Heather Katus for
$8,000. His great-
great-granddam was
a Pathfinder Rito
2100
female that we
flushed with Julie’s
uncle, Joe Schaff,
after he dispersed his
cowherd in 2001.
