VanPelt’s Vista Grande Ranch is located south of Laramie, Wyoming about 8 miles south of
I-80 nestled at the base of the Laramie Range of mountains at about 7400 feet above sea level.
The high plains of Wyoming, its good hard grass, cold mountain water and acres and acres of
bright blue unpolluted sky is home to the Van Pelt string of top quality ranch bred working
cow horses going back to Blue Valentine, Joe Hancock and Leo. We know everyone likes a
choice and we’re here to offer it to you from working ranch horses to team roping and barrel
racing…we’ll have one for you.
Dick and Dianne
Every year we like to elevate our programs to a higher level. We are still
striving for that goal. We think you will see the results of that effort again
this year. As I have tried to slow down, I have leased out some mares to
Roy and Brandee Gillum who help run the family ranch at Peetz, Colorado.
Roy and Brandee have their first riding mare in this sale, and I think you’re
going to like her.
Greg Frye and his family continue to bring horses that are 'dog
gentle' as shown in this picture of Jennaya, Riyatta and Greg
with their trusty old dog getting a free ride. Greg starts most of
my horses and his children finish them up – cracking bull whips
on them proves how 'dog gentle' they will be.
Clayton Van Aken who you
met last year where he brought
several good heel horses to the
sale, is going to be here again
with two good ones. Clayton
has actually spent quite a bit of
time on the rodeo circuit where
he has had some good success this year.
Lydia Coe who is also on the UW Rodeo Team will bring a good gelding
she has been riding between rodeos. She has a light hand and I think
you will like what she has to show you.
So if you want a good value in a young horse that you can go on with you can find them at the Come
to the Source. You will find that in a couple of years you will have a horse that if you went to buy it at
a ranch horse sale, it would cost you 3 to 4 times what you paid at our sale. Here is your opportunity.
On Friday Afternoon
at the fairgrounds
we are going to have a warm-up for the rope horses
for Saturday’s preview. So come take a peek.
The Gillum Family
Clayton will have more
just like this one at the
sale this year.

“Horses are like potato chips...
you can’t have just one...
but Dianne tells me I don’t
need the whole bag”
