Welcome to the Red Dirt Round Up Auction
The Red Dirt Round Up is one of the most diverse Red Angus auctions that I have had
the opportunity to manage. From fancy, halter broke show quality cattle to high production
commercial cattle offered in volumes, this auction has it all if you are living in the Red
Angus world (or want to be!). In early August, I made the trip from southeast Iowa to
Canton, Oklahoma to meet with the folks at Chain Ranch. I certainly knew about the Chain
Ranch, but didn’t realize how much of a family oriented operation it was, entailing four
generations with 7 ranches in Oklahoma and Kansas. If you want to buy some cattle from a
truly “grass roots” farming and ranching operation, I suggest you either come to Canton,
Oklahoma on October 27th or tune in via DVAuction to see a truly great set of cattle. The
Chain Ranch feeds out all of their weaned calves giving them a vast amount of carcass
information to make breeding decisions from. Like I said, if you want seedstock cattle that
are in alignment with the real beef industry, the Chain Ranch of Oklahoma is an excellent
place to shop.
The diversity of the Red Dirt Round Up Sale is the invitation by Chain Ranch to the
Oklahoma Red Angus Association members (and surrounding states) to bring cattle and
join this auction. You will literally be able to buy your next fancy show heifer, a potload of
commercial Red Angus females and your next herd bull all in one auction. Please make
plans to come out and join the festivities on October 26th and 27th.
If you need a future national caliber herd bull, take a look at lot 69A, 69B, 69C & 69D
and your choice of the Chain Ranch future superstars that are showing at the National
Western Stock Show in Denver. Also take a look at Lot 84-93 for a unique offer of the right
to implant embryos in the Chain Ranch cows on a custom basis.
On the commercial side of things, we will be selling all of the females in increments of
five with the option of “rolling them” into load lots allowing every sized operation the chance
to participate. This is our commitment to working with you, the buyer, to make the Red Dirt
