On behalf of the Chain Ranch family and employees, we are excited to host the 3nd Annual
Oklahoma Red Angus Association Red Dirt Roundup Sale. In 1893, 17-year-old Oscar Chain set
out on horseback from Haven, Kansas with a dream. He would leave his family behind and make
the 175 mile journey south to Indian Territory where he would attempt to homestead and claim his
share of the West. However, he was too young to participate in the Cherokee Strip Land Run on
September 16, 1893, so he waited for a homesick settler to give up on the American dream and
traded him a shotgun and $50 for 160 acres. That quarter section in eastern Dewey County remains
the heart of the Chain Ranch and is the very location where we will be hosting the Red Dirt
Roundup Sale.
The Lord has blessed us immensely, and we give Him the credit for our success. Being good
stewards of this land is a vital part of staying in business as a farmer and rancher. All of our
employees are BQA certified and all commercial cattle are marketed all-natural and age and source
verified. We believe that providing our customers a safe, quality product is the most important
thing Chain Ranch can do to ensure continued success. Over the past decade we have used Red
Angus genetics in our commercial herd and have witnessed improved quality. We are very excited
about the future of the Red Angus breed.
We know it’s been extremely dry the past couple of years – maybe some of the toughest years
many of us have ever experienced. But rain is on the way and times will get better. The cattle
market is good and when it does rain we feel the female market will be record setting.
The consigners have brought you an outstanding set of registered Red Angus cattle to choose from,
and the rare opportunity to purchase superior Red Angus genetics will be offered. Some herds are
being offered only due to the drought and represent a lifetime of work. We want to thank Kyle and
his crew, DVAuction, and the Oklahoma Red Angus Association for the outstanding job they have
done in placing these cattle.
You’re cordially invited to attend
the sale, explore our ranching
history and heritage, eat with us
and simply enjoy a beautiful day
in Western Oklahoma. We look
forward to seeing you on October

God Bless,
The Chain Ranch Family
