Beef Producers,
I would like to personally welcome you to the 45th Annual Sale for the Dethlefs Family. Being in the seed stock
business is something that this family doesn’t take lightly. They have developed their program around them and have
become great stewards of the land. They have stayed true to the beliefs that they were taught when Carl Dethlefs bought
his first registered Angus cattle back in 1952.
In my opinion the Dethlefs family is one of the leading operations in the Midwest as far as producing virgin range ready
two year old bulls. They haven’t chased any trends or fads along the way doing this. They have kept in mind that bulls
that can utilize the forages and resources around them to maintain their condition and not have to have any extra
pampering. Also they have kept in mind that not only do bulls need to produce calves with extra pay weight they also
need to produce heifers that develop into mama cows that go out and get the job done day in day out with low inputs.
If you haven’t been to the Dethlefs sale, I urge you to put it on your calendar. Not only will you get to evaluate a great
set of cattle, but also be able to enjoy hospitality that is second to none. Be sure to have March 1st on your calendar and
plan now to be with us in Rockvlle, NE.
Sincerely, Dustin Carter
You won’t find Angus bulls anywhere
with more guts, butts or nuts!
to our 45th annual bull sale March 1, 2013
The past year has been very good but also frustrating for most beef producers. The cattle prices have never been
better than what they are now and with the low inventory of cattle, they should remain that way for some time. You
all know too well about the frustrating part. Hopefully, that will change this spring when it starts raining again.
My dad, Carl Dethlefs, bought his first registered Angus cattle in 1952. Many of our cows today trace back to those
original cattle. Dad’s goal and ours have always been to raise cattle with excellent growth, provide us with females
that produce well without being pampered, have good dispositions, and to have the kind of steers that perform well
in the feedlot. We feel our cowherd is producing the kind of bulls that will sire profitable calves whether you sell
them directly off the cow or feed them out.
The bulls in this sale are virgin bulls that haven’t been pampered. These bulls have been running in the
pastures since last spring with minimal supplementation. They will stay in the pasture getting plenty of
exercise until the time of the sale.I think the quality runs deeper in this years’ sale offering than ever before.
Whether you need one bull or a trailer load, you will find good bulls from start to finish. I don’t think you can find
a stronger set of 2 year old bulls anywhere and we are offering an outstanding group of yearlings.
Stop in and look at our cattle anytime. Join us for a complimentary lunch on sale day.
