The mark of a great bull is his ability to out-produce him-
self, and Roosevelt W384 looks like he may have gotten that
done on his first calf crop. Y312’s maternal granddam was
the highest priced cow we ever bought, and she turned out
to be a great investment. Y312 combines plenty of growth
with a ton of cow power going back many generations on
both sides.
Here is another great Roosevelt son. If you look through
the pens it’s easy to see why we think so much of Roosevelt
W384. Y390 puts some great numbers together with ample
growth and marbling in the top 6%, but probably his big-
gest strength is his maternal power being in the top 7% of
the TM and top 7% for HPG.
Y310 has been a standout we have watched since weaning.
You’ll wear out a set of tires trying to find a bull as stout as
this guy. Y310’s dam has done an outstanding job with an
MPPA of 106.7. Y310’s scan data is very impressive with 124
IMF and 108 REA along with being in the top 8% TM, top 3%
ME, and top 3% CEM. Buy him and keep the daughters;
you can’t go wrong.
Due to the scale going bad and us not catching it right away, we
have a few bulls we didn’t have accurate birth weights on. Unfortu-
nately, Y347 is one of them. Don’t discount him for it; his EPD’s are
accurate and make him look pretty good. Y347 has ME in the top 5%
and with increased feed costs that is getting more important.
We had a tough time trying to order these bulls. The truth
is there were quite a few that could have led off the sale.
Y366 was no exception, and his outcross pedigree makes
him very interesting going back to Future Direction and B/R
New Frontier 095.
Unfortunately, we lost Goldbar 8123 after his first breeding
season, but he left us some really nice progeny. Added
pounds and maternal strength in a very attractive package
are what Y345 will give his new owner, not to mention a big
boost in REA, being in the top 3%.
