GUARANTEED 5-STAR CALVING EASE BULLS
We are so sure of our 5-Star bulls that we are going to provide a one-year calv-
ing ease guarantee on all of our 5-Star bulls. Our 5-Star bulls would be the
absolute best, but those 3 and 4 stars are also recommended for use on heifers,
along with some of the 2-Star bulls.
We are so confident in our 5-Star calving ease bulls that we are willing to pay
$25.00 for every calf you have to pull that is sired by one of our 5-Star bulls.
If veterinary assistance is required, we will pay your vet bill. We feel that you
should be able to look forward to your next calving season.
This will require you to use our calving ease bulls by themselves or only with
other guaranteed calving ease bulls. This means you will need to record which
heifers are run with which bulls. We are willing to rely on your honesty.
5-STAR RATINGS
Calving Ease
5-Star Rating System: Most of our bulls offered for sale could be used on first
calf heifers due to shape and size. To help you identify our calving ease proven
bulls, we have a 5-Star rated system, 5-Star being our easiest calving. Our 1
and 2 Stars are for cows, because the sires are less proven on heifers.
Our 3, 4 & 5-Star rated bulls are out of proven calving ease bloodlines for
birth weight and shape. These bulls will work the easiest on heifers. You may
choose to use some of our 2-Stars on heifers calving under more supervision.
Fleshing Ability
Fleshing ability has always been important, but will be even more important
in the future as input costs increase. Easy fleshing bulls should sire daughters
that are easy fleshing and more fertile. Our sale bulls are rated 1 to 5 Stars for
fleshing ability, with 5 being the best and 3 being about average. These scores
will reflect the future fleshing ability of the bull, his offspring and daughters.
We believe you should pay special attention to this trait if you are raising your
own replacement heifers.
Disposition
We have always been concerned about the disposition of our cattle and how we
handle them. With this in mind, we have rated our bulls from 1 to 5 stars, with
5 being the best and 3 being average. We have kept track of how bulls have
responded when working through the chute and as we pressure them when we
intentionally sort them off and crowd them. Disposition problems are rela-
tively easy to spot when you first walk into the cow herd or the bull pen. Life is
much too short to put up with nervous or ill-tempered cattle.
