The Spring 2015 North American Limousin Foundation EPDs have greater predictability from the benefit of an
international multi-breed genetic evaluation.
What are the advantages of changing to a multi-breed genetic evaluation?
• The Limousin evaluations (EPDs) are directly comparable to Red Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh, among
other breeds, making selection decisions easier for commercial producers.
• The carcass trait EPDs are more conservative, but consequently will be more accurate in the long run.
• A contemporary group realignment into larger groups contributes to higher accuracy EPDs.
• Embryo calves are no longer taken for account in the growth traits, but carcass data will be included.
